Solidarity Survival Fund
Announcing the BEA Solidarity Survival Fund
The BEA Solidarity Survival Fund will provide flexible funding to grassroots organizations that serve as the lifeline for their communities and have already demonstrated success in advancing environmental justice. While the needs across organizations vary, it is incumbent on us to support the survival of those groups who are quite literally fighting for the existence of their own communities during the COVID-19 crisis.
It is a grim reality that COVID-19 is disproportionately affecting those most vulnerable, and increasing the mortality rates for communities with higher pollution exposure and in turn poorer health conditions. The COVID-19 pandemic exacerbates the structural and racial inequalities in target communities and leaves the grassroots environmental justice movement and its people susceptible to harm.
BEA is incredibly grateful for the generous support of our foundation partner The JPB Foundation, whose leadership investment enabled the launch of the Solidarity Survival Fund. To date, the fund has received additional investments from the Pisces Foundation and the Park Foundation.
